February 4, 2013: Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MOCTCA) stated that it will open four additional trekking routes in 2013; from Mugu to Rara Lake, from Jharmar to Khadi, from Dhorpatan to Shey Phoksundo Lake and from Khaptad to Shey Phoksundo Lake. The ministry has already allocated NRs 1, 00, 00,000 for the development of trekking routes.
The head of Tourism Infrastructure Development Project- Prakash Raghubansi said, “The number of internal and external tourists has increased significantly in the recent years. With the development of new trekking routes, the MOCTCA is promoting tourism in Nepal and encouraging private sectors for their participation and development in Tourism.”
Similarly, the MOCTCA is also planning to develop cable car services in Sworgadwari (Puthan) and Pathibhara(Taplenjunga) on private – public partnership (PPP) model.
